What We Offer

Three Sessions, Each With a Clear Purpose

From a single communication workshop to an extended programme, Kinvale's sessions are structured around what families actually need during a period of change. All within the scope of general education.

Our Methodology

How a Kinvale Session Is Built

Every session follows the same underlying approach — structure, neutrality, and practical takeaways — whether it runs for half a day or across multiple weeks.

1. Conversation First

Every session begins by giving each participant space to share their current understanding of the situation, without interruption.

2. Skills Input

The facilitator introduces a communication framework or document-organisation method relevant to the family's situation.

3. Practice Together

Families try the method in a supported setting — role-play exercises, document sorting, or shared planning activities.

4. Leave With Something

Every session ends with a written takeaway — a guide, a completed checklist, or a labelled folder — that families can use independently.

Session 1

Family Communication Workshop

A gentle, structured workshop that helps family members practise calm, respectful conversation skills and shared listening during a period of change. The session is purely educational and skills-focused. No advice is given and no decisions are made on behalf of participants. Includes role-play prompts, simple talk-through frameworks, and a take-home communication guide.

What's included:

Structured shared-listening exercises
Role-play conversation prompts and practice
Simple frameworks for talking through difficult topics
Take-home communication guide (written, plain-language)

How it runs:

1

Each participant shares their current understanding — the facilitator listens and notes common ground and gaps.

2

The facilitator introduces two or three conversation frameworks suited to the family's situation.

3

The family practises each framework in a low-pressure role-play exercise, with the facilitator guiding turn-taking.

4

The session closes with a shared summary and each participant takes home the written communication guide.

Session 2

Family Transition Planning & Document Organisation

A practical session helping a family gather and organise their own everyday paperwork and shared information into a clear, labelled folder. Focused on coordination and organisation only — not on interpreting or advising on the documents themselves. Includes checklists and a simple planning template, with pointers to the appropriate professionals where formal matters arise.

What's included:

Document gathering checklist (Malaysia-specific)
Labelled folder system with section dividers
Simple transition planning template
Printed list of relevant professional services for follow-up

How it runs:

1

Pre-session: the family is sent the gathering checklist to collect relevant documents before attending.

2

The facilitator helps the family sort documents into categories and label them clearly using the folder system.

3

The planning template is completed together — a shared picture of who is responsible for what, and what still needs to be arranged.

4

The session closes with the folder handed to the family and a referral list for any professional matters that arose.

Ongoing Family Support & Communication Programme

A multi-session programme combining communication workshops, shared planning conversations, and help organising everyday family information into one clear place. Designed to support steady, respectful coordination over time — not a single intensive event. Includes a family information binder and follow-up check-ins for factual, non-advisory matters only.

What's included:

Multiple sessions (typically 4–6 over 6–10 weeks)
Family information binder with all materials consolidated
Communication framework refreshers at each session
Follow-up check-in calls for factual queries (not advice)

How it runs:

1

Initial session: baseline conversation, assessment of communication habits and document situation, agreement on a schedule.

2

Core sessions: rotating focus between communication skills and document organisation, building the family binder progressively.

3

Between sessions: brief check-in calls to answer factual questions and confirm any document follow-up.

4

Closing session: review of progress, completion of the binder, and referral list for any outstanding professional matters.
